12-15 October 2017
Inspiral festival will celebrate the culmination of our ‘on the ground mapping’ of the Inspiral trail. Expect deep-rooted explorations: a feast of walks, performances, workshops, installations and more, located between central London and Gravesend.
On Thursday 12 October, the festival launches with a Mary Wollstonecraft-inspired walk led by Charlie Fox in the morning, followed by an evening of talks at Swedenborg House (speakers tbc). Friday the 13th will begin in Barking with artist walks and talks with a picnic lunch along the Roding Valley, hopping on the train at Stratford to arrive in Gravesend, with scheduled dinner and cabaret performances at the Gravesham Arts Centre with a line up of Inspiral artists. Saturday focuses on workshops, with a roundtable discussion on artist mapping at Gravesham Arts, followed by artist presentations, walks, workshops and artworks in and around Gravesend. Finally, on Sunday we will walk Inspiral Segment 36 from Gravesend to Farningham.
Call for volunteers:
InspiralLondon is looking for volunteers for our 2017 festival. This is an opportunity to delve into under-explored parts of the city and take on a hands-on role in arts administration and operations including pre-planning for the events, with the potential for an expanded role following the festival. Transportation to various locations across London and Gravesend along with meals will be provided. Email Georgia at firstname.lastname@example.org with an expression of interest or any questions.
