Roding Valley Watery Commons walking workshop

A unique Walking Workshop – open to all as part of InspiralLondon’s project HydraCity, towards Watery Commons – artistic exploration and on the ground mapping of the Lower Thames Valley water system.

Join IL guided walk along the River Roding, then detouring into the tidal marshlands of water treatment, to emerge into the strange uncanny world of the redeveloped Beckton Gas Works.

For this exploration of our Watery Commons, we will explore how landmarks, water sources and Thames-side activities have been subsumed into other recent narratives. Beckton Gas Works was a wonder of the world and we will explore what remains, what was there before the Works and finally what we can reimagine, from out of that other London.

For this walk we are joined by urban explorer and walk leader John Churchill alongside other inspiral artists in order to re-create other narratives and foraging. Part of HydraCity, towards Watery Commons.

Come and discover the hidden, the lost and the uncanny beauty of London’s watery undercurrents as we float away into and along the tidal Thames. Covid19 advice will be updated – but bring face mask, suitable walking footware and a picnic. InspiralLondon will provide some beverages and light refreshmemts.
