
Spiral Sanctuary Walk Workshop with the Art of the Magic Lantern

Join us 9th April, 5-7pm at Clockhouse Community Centre
Join inspiral artists and the art of Magic Lantern, Frog Morris and Nicole Mollett for an evening of archival and imaginal exploration among the surroundings of Woolwich Old Dockyards to meet unusual and unexpected figures and images appearing from the walls and facades. Together we explore the hidden histories of Greenwich, extraordinary stories buried in the archive – individuals and communities seeking refuge and sanctuary. As we look across at the Tate & Lyle factory we hear tell, the strange convoluted histories of sugar/cane and spice. This workshop is free but booking recommended.

The Art of the Magic Lantern is a collaborative project by Nicole Mollett and Frog Morris which re-purposes this pre-cinema projection equipment to create a new live performance pieces for contemporary audiences. The project brings together heritage research, drawing, socially engaged art practice, standup performance, and story telling.
For Songlines for Greenwich The Art of the Magic Lantern will create a new preambulatory slide show among the sights, sounds and smells of Woolwich Old Dockyards.

This Spring join us for gentle walks and contribute to our local Black History walking project Songlines of Greenwich. Together we create, interpret and celebrate Black cultural heritage and experiences reclaiming the histories of places, of forgotten or underrepresented people.
