Made in The Mardyke – Post Natural Estuary explorations.

May 3 @ 1:00 pm - 5:00 pm

Made in The Mardyke – Post Natural Estuary explorations. (1-5pm 3 May 2025)

Join artist Charlie Fox for dropin making and exchange workshop: at the table throughout the afternoon with support from MadeInTheMardyke, InspiralLondon and T100 team members. This is part of the Estuary Exchange national launch of Beach of Dreams Festival at Tilbury Cruise Terminal and T100 walking festival.

You will have an opportunity to try out making ‘creaturely’ elements from materials found in local rivers. A chance to experience first hand some of the processes and artistic research that informs the Made in the Mardyke project, and which will culminate on 31 May with performance by the Mardyke River near to Chafford Hundred.

You can also experience and examine the hybrid materials, the interplay between plastics and natural matter: looking at the material magnified; using a microscope to look at the extraordinary new worlds being discovered in the watery commons of the Estuary. Made in the Mardyke offers a space for us to engage with conversations about our waterways, how we interact with them, issues of waste and pollution, geological history of rivers, the post-natural forms that they produce and broader questions about the climate emergency, the state of our rivers, oceans and sea.
