Playback Canary Wharf to Stamford Hill – walk, conversation and narratives on London’s unique spiral trail
30th June 2019 @ 2:00 pm - 6:30 pm
6£All Welcome. Moderate walk approximately 9 mile with Inspiral Associate Artists and walk segment 7 of the 300 mile (36 segment) trail.
At 2pm meet at the pier exit for the Hilton Ferry – Canary Wharf side of River Thames (nearest tube Canary Wharf) to start Playback walk of segment 7, winding passed Canary Wharf and up to Limehouse Cut before cutting through to Hackney Wick. Here we join the waterway northwards, along the River Lee canal emerging at Stamford Hill.
For this outing of InspiralLondon, a walking trail designed and laid out by collective of associate artists, we will be conducting walking conversations and discussing narrative/s of the trail – as both an everyday and an artistic practice. The walk will be re-led by Anne Robinson (who guided us remotely on the segment, walked originally December 13 2015). Returning to the original script – Anne will be in conversation with the route, her own and collective memories of the places we pass through, and with InspiralLondon Director Charlie Fox. Other associate artists will join the walk to add their voices to this unique audio archive – to be published as part of Metropolitan Trail Academy European City Trail resource – see http://metropolitantrails.org/academy/
NOTE: it is possible to do only part of the walk as there are a number of tubes/other public transport options along route. Dress according to weather and bring water/snacks.
This walk is in anticipation of further publications from InspiralLondon – to be launched in National Park City Week (21-27 July). Public walks and workshops are planned for Wednesday 24 July evening, Saturday 27 afternoon, Saturday 27/Sunday 28 evening/midnight walk.
