May 12 @ 2:00 pm - 5:30 pm
FreeRe-Walk Segment 14 InspiralLondon Trail from Wood Street to Silver Street
On Sunday May 12 from 2-5.30pm – Meet at Wood Street Station Sign up HERE
to explore Waltham Forest Trail – from Wood Street to Silver Street – encountering a rich variety of forest, park, garden and street trees.
For those wishing only to do a short walk you can follow the first part of the trail just to the William Morris House Gallery and Gardens and take time to explore the trees and gardens surrounding the House. There is also an opportunity to visit the adjoining Lloyd Park and enjoy the Museum Cafe facilities. The park was originally the garden and grounds surrounding Morris’ childhood home; an inspiration for his love of nature. We will spend some time looking at variety of tree leaves, collecting samples, and thinking of patterns of nature as central to Arts & Crafts movement.
For the adventurous we will continue from Lloyd Park to Walthamstow Town Hall and Fellowship Square. Then we will explore the urban canopy and undergrowth as we walk on across Waltham Forest toward Silver Street.
We will allow everyone some time to enjoy the Gallery, cafe and facilities at William Morris Gardens but please bring refreshments and snacks to share if you plan on walking to Silver Street.
At the end of the walk, we plan to go on to Pymmes Brook, to explore this hidden stream and celebrate the urban forest with a shared picnic. See HERE
Part of InspiralLondon ReWalk, ReMap, ReTell 2024-2025
In association with soundcamp Reveil 11 (3-4 May) and the Urban Tree Festival (11-19 May 2024). These unique walks showcase the variety and diversity of the inspirallondon trail as it spirals anticlockwise, 6 times out from the centre of the city towards Gravesend. From Spring 2024 to 2025 InspiralLondon sets out to share rewalk, remap and retell the 300 mile spiral trail, first walked in 2015. We invite all kinds of walkers, urban explorers and the curious to experience the magic of this long distance urban pathway.
