Where we have walked / We were here… with artist Remiiya Badru

July 19 @ 10:00 am - 12:30 pm

Where we have walked / We were here… with artist Remiiya Badru. (Saturday 19 July 10am-12.30pm)

Join us on an explorative walking tour that reveals known and hidden histories of black presence with a connection to Greenwich, who have left their indelible marks within the canon of our shared histories.

As part of my research as my Rhumblines project and walking as inherent within my practice as an Artist, I will also be sharing aspects of my research journey around lesser known narratives of black and indigenous voices at sea, through conversations as a shared and mobile community.

Commencing from Maze Hill station, we will be mapping a range of narratives of key black figures who changed the course of history with their contributions, leaving poignant legacies, which continue to reverberate today. We will be stopping at key sites weaving our way around through Greenwich Park, into Queen’s House and the National Maritime Museum to look at specific works            and rounding off by the river.

Join InspiralLondon and walking artist Remiiya Badru.  This shortish walk will take you from Maze Hill, by the plaque to Olaudah Equiano, down towards the River Thames.

More information forthcoming for unique Retellings Walking Events for BlackHistory 365 celebrations on 12 July (funded by The Royal Borough of Greenwich).
