Slow Walking cross the Hills & Woods of NW London – On the ground mapping no. 27
May 26

Join us at 10.30am for this unusual and varied walk in NW London:
Slow Walking across the hills and woods of NW London is part of InspiralLondon’s remapping of the 300 mile trail – on Segment 27 from Elstree & Borehamwood to Northwood Hills. On this long May bank holiday enjoy some slow walking with Artist Rachel Gomme as InspiralLondon ventures along segment 27 of the trail. An unexpectedly beautiful walk from Elstree Hills to Merry Hills onto the end at Northwood Hills.
During the first part of the walk, Rachel will be identifying 2 or 3 short stretches of the trail as an interlude for slow walking – where we take time to sense into and savour the delicate details of our own movement, and the beings, substances and flows around us.
This beautiful stretch of walk chimes with the Urban Tree Festival and the unfurling of leaves in late Spring as the undergrowth & urban Forest Canopy begins its immense greening of the city.
We will meet promptly at 10.30am at the exit of Elstree & Borehamwood Station – before crossing Watling Street onto Elstree Hill and slow walking, bathing in the May warmth. From there we continue this sensory walk that explores Urban Trees/Undergrowth/Urban Forest Canopy and meadow lands wreathed in flowers.
For those unable to make the start but would like to experience a short inspirallondon walk you can come and join our trail walk later in the early evening for a short slow walking start at Northwood Hills from 5pm and experience London walking in a totally other way. See Walk Segment 28 – Northwood Hills towards Ruislip Gardens.
