Con-fluences and re-sources Walks

counterproductions (Charlie Fox) has been tracing, exploring and re-mapping a number of confluences, riverways, creeks – including searching for river sources along the Thames watershed.

As part of Hydrodetours research a number of novel on-the-ground walks trace the course of water in the Thames basin following the false trails, artificial infrastructures – the piped and channeled ways – that constrains and funnels the water out into the Thames Delta. These walks inform the commissioning and development of Hydrodetours 2021.

Recent walks and explorations have plotted the River Roding to Creekside, the river Darent to its confluence with the river Cray; re-sourcing the Ravensbourne; the New River pipeways and aqueducts in aerial con-fluence with Pymme’s Brook, and exploring lost river Wogebourne. Other river walks and explorations include along the River Crane Valley, the Mardyke, the Peck, the Wandle, the Quaggy and the Fleet from Hampstead Heath.

Currently InspiralLondon are designing a mini-festival of Thames River walking for Totally Thames, September 2025.
